MISSION AND HISTORY

Established in 2001, the Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID# 86-1023126) dedicated to enriching, supporting, and promoting innovation for the students and educators of the Gilbert Public School District.

We operate independently with our own board of directors and staff while closely aligning with the district's needs. Committed to transparency and compliance, we adhere to IRS regulations to maintain our tax-exempt status.

Our diverse board includes leaders from prominent corporations like Dignity Health, as well as representatives from midsize regional companies, local firms, and esteemed community figures.

Over the years, through a combination of events, grants, donations, and corporate partnerships, GEF has raised and contributed over $3.0 million to support students, staff, and programs within Gilbert Public Schools. With an average enrollment of 32,000 students and over 4,500 employees, GPS stands as the largest employer in the Town of Gilbert.

At GEF, we transcend the role of a traditional foundation. We're a dynamic force driving positive change in education and community well-being, touching the lives of all who reside and work in the East Valley.

Purpose

Enrich | Support | Innovate

At the Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF), our purpose is crystal clear: to empower, uplift, and ignite innovation within the Gilbert Public School District. In a state where Arizona ranks 49th for per pupil funding according to the US Department of Education's 2024 report, the need for support is paramount. GEF rises to the challenge, bridging budget gaps through a range of impactful programs, including our Innovation Grants, Scholarship Program, STEAM Education Initiatives, Varsity Letter Volunteerism Program, and our community-focused S.H.A.N.E. Program. Our driving force? To create enduring change in the lives of our students, educators, and the broader community we proudly serve.
